Ravensworth Complex recognises that excessive noise levels from mine related activities are a source of potential annoyance for nearby residents. Noise control processes used at Ravensworth Complex include:
- at the project approval stage, noise modelling is used to predict the areas adversely affected by noise impacts and mitigate potential noise impacts at those properties adversely affected;
- operational changes when conditions require modification to mining to maintain compliance; mining equipment is maintained to high standards to ensure high availability and to meet noise emission criteria;
- all new equipment is procured to specific noise specification criteria to ensure compliance; and
- the Coal Crushing Plant and conveyor are partially enclosed in buildings and protective structures to contain noise generated.
Attended noise monitoring is carried out on a monthly basis.
